About Julia Young Counselling Service

Julia Young

Julia Young ia a qualified Counsellor with a BA (Hons) degree in Counselling from Chichester University.   Julia Young has practiced Counselling for 15 years and runs a private counselling practice in Worthing, West Sussex.

Julia's approach embraces how our inner selves; including emotions and physical health and external environment such as families, work and communities have an impact upon how we experience ourselves and our relationships.

Julia Young is resistant to labels, including those associated with mental illness, preferring to work with whatever issues you bring, exploring them within the therapeutic hour and sharing in that sense of gradual understanding.

Julia works with a wide variety of mental, physical and emotional issues, including panic, anxiety, trauma, abuse, coronavirus (Covid 19) difficulties, mental health concerns, alcohol and drug use, workplace issues, marital/relationship difficulties, bereavement, physical disability and ageing for example.

Sessions are usually weekly and take place at my practice in Worthing, however if you are disabled or frail, Julia is happy to visit your home, residential placement or hospital.  This is because she is determined that nobody should be denied the opportunity to receive counselling due to disability or frailty.

Primarily Julia Young works in a person centred way inspired by the teachings of Carl Rogers.  She does however have extensive training and is widely read on a number of therapeutic approaches and will draw on these during the session, including aspects of Transactional Analysis, Gestalt, and perhaps some Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for example.
